STARLIGHT

As she looked through the darkness, she felt her enduring inner light. She understood she was a celestial creature within her dark world of never-ending night. She realised she was not her darkness. She was eternal. She was… starlight.’

Starlight: The Human Capacity to Hold Light

Within the vastness of the universe, lived the stars where they shine like beacons, illuminating the endless darkness that encompasses the cosmos. Each star, a cluster of infinite light, radiates its brilliance across eons, carrying with it the source of creation. These lights, these celestial bodies are the storytellers of the universe, ancient and ever-present through time, beautiful and powerful in their capacity to hold the foundation of time and space. For eons stars have burned, their energy and light crossing vast distances to reach the eyes of their beholders.

As humans, are we passive observers of these distant lights? Or extensions of their energetic force and receivers of their infinite energy.  The starlight that illuminates us in the night sky is not distinct and separate from us, but rather woven into the very structure of who we are?

Science confirms this deep and profound connection - every atom within us was forged in the heart of an ancient star. Our bodies, though grounded in the Earth, are born from the cosmos, an intricate dance of matter and energy that has existed for billions of years. We are not distinct or in separation but intricately connected to all that is. The very elements that make up our physical form—carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and iron—were once part of the very stars that look down on us. We are stardust! We are the living and breathing extension of their light in a universe that is infinite in its possibility. We are but the legacy of the cosmos, born from the same powerful forces that created galaxies, supernovae, and nebulae. We are starlight.

This cosmic truth binds, that often escapes us in our daily diversions, is that we are not simply fleeting beings, but an integral part of the grand unfolding of the universe. Our existence is diametric – we are truly both small and vast in all that we are, just like a star drifting in the infinite expanse of the universe imbued with the potential to shine with the energy of the sun.

How does a human hold this starlight within us in a world of shadows and diversionary matter? How do we embody the light of the stars and remember our unique and significant place in the shadows that our lives through many generations have become? The answer can be found in the contrast of light and dark, a reality that mirrors the very nature of the cosmos itself. Starlight is not pure, unbroken light—it is the result of pressure, fusion, and transformation. It is born from the chaos of creation, from the collision of elements and forces that are too powerful to comprehend. And so, too, are we born from the dark, the unseen, from lineages that are not fully understood, and we too can transform and alchemise these origins into our light and to do so is to honour and be in synchronicity with the entire spectrum of human experience and the universe.

It is not to deny and avoid the darkness of life, but to acknowledge it and use it to shape us into a transcendental form. The light that we hold within does not require us to exist in an absence of shadow and darkness – it accepts that all contribute to all that we are. Just as a star is most visible and brightest in the darkest of skies, so too are we. The energy is not static but dynamic and ever-expanding.

As we begin to comprehend this vital truth we realise that we are not separate, we are the extension of the cosmos and live in a shared boundless legacy to continue to form and transmute beyond the limitations of the human form.  To hold light is not a passive experience, it is a conscious choice to be connected and step into the fullness of who we are and all that we were. Self-awareness is the key to unlocking this inner brilliance that exists in all beings. When we allow ourselves to channel that energy into creation, connection, and healing, we begin to see that the darkness we have known in a different light, it becomes a comic canvas upon which we can paint our life. We are born of the stars, it is our birthright to create, to transform, and to illuminate the world around us with this vision our dreams, our desires. We are far from separate and isolated, we are not the ‘sum of our oppressive shadows’. We are limitless beings, as boundless as the cosmos itself.
